Day 9 - Put a wring on it / by An

Victor and Paulina came all the way from their home to meet us at the Women's Weaving Collective in Urubamba. It has been a tradition for Victor to do a blessing ceremony for us at the beginning of the program, but this was the first year that Paulina was here too! But first, Tim had to get into the appropriate attire...

This is finished product! Aren't the colors amazing? They're all made from natural dyes (even that crazy blue color in the background!) like leaves, flowers, vines, and BEETLES (for the red!). Each bundle is untangled and rinsed at least two times. We did some serious work. For lunch that day we got to try guinea pig, or cuy!
